Bare Bones Opera launches its’ first production
Bare Bones Opera launched its’ debut production in August 2016. Bare Bones Opera is a joint-venture of emerging artists with a fresh approach to operatic performance. The company was founded by Laura King Soprano, and Christopher Curcuruto – Bass-Baritone to create a more traditional, scaled-back, theatrical style of opera.
We are inspired by Peter Brook’s concept of “The Empty Space”: “I can take any empty space and call it a bare stage. A man walks across this empty space whist someone else is watching him, and this is all that is needed for an act of theatre to be engaged”.
Bare Bone Opera’s inaugural production was a triple bill of operas by Rimsky Korsakov (Mozart and Salieri), Mozart (Der Schauspieldirektor), and Salieri (Prima la Musica, Poi le Parole). Following these three works is the Australian premiere of Mozart and Salieri’s recently discovered Per la Ricuperata Salute di Ofelia.
